Honorary Commander Program at Luke AFB

November 6, 2024 - Credit Union West is a proud participant in the Honorary Commander Program at Luke Air Force Base. This program pairs up base leadership with community leaders to learn more about the Air Force, its mission, and the 56th Fighter Wing Luke Air Force Base. Jessica Martinez, Regional Manager at Credit Union West, has recently been selected as a 2024 honorary commander and will be serving in this position for the next two years.

Throughout this time, Martinez will be assigned to a unit where she will be fully immersed in events on base. She will have opportunities to attend unit ceremonies, meetings, family gatherings, and changes of command. This helps to grow the relationship between Credit Union West and Luke AFB by strengthening the credit union’s understanding of the 56th Fighter Wing’s mission and for members of leadership on base to learn how the credit union impacts the community.

Her squadron leader will also spend time learning about the credit union’s operations and mission. Understanding the impact that Credit Union West has on the community is a great way for military members to know the resources we offer and creates new opportunities for collaboration between leadership on base and within our organization. Creating meaningful and lasting connections is the driving force behind the credit union’s participation in this program since our founding.

Credit Union West was founded on Luke Air Force Base in 1951, known then as Luke Federal Credit Union, to serve military members and their families. The relationship between Credit Union West and Luke AFB allows us to be a resource for airmen when they need a trusted financial partner. Our dedication to military members and their families runs much deeper than our presence on Luke AFB. It plays a role in how we interact with members and the level of service we strive to provide.
